In addition to the local market, global export is an opportunity for the SMESCO sector to acquire better margins and a more stable market volume. For the SMESCO sector, the pursuit of international markets can also become the source of innovation in both product development as well as network development. To help the expansion of SMESCO exports, The State Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs has embarked upon many activities, from the facilitation of SMESCO trading missions and exhibition, to the promotion of international cooperation with partners and buyers. In the effort to continually support the development of the SMESCO sector, The State Ministry developed a trading house. Its function is to develop SMESCO's promotional activities.
To manage the SMESCO trading house, The State Ministry has created an institution with the name of Lembaga Layanan Pemasaran Koperasi Usaha Kecil dan Menengah (LLP-KUKM). It is a non-profit organization and an independent business unit under The State Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. Operating as Smesco Indonesia Company, it is a professional institution that promotes the SMESCO sector and empowers them to compete in the global market place.
Smesco Indonesia Company was initially inspired by the promulgation of Government Constitution number 1/2004 regarding Public Treasury that creates a new phase in the history of Indonesia's Public Finance Management. Following the above constitution, the government issued a Decree Number 23/2005 regarding The Financial Management Framework for Public Service Institutions.
With this constitution, the enhancement of government services for the promotion of public welfare and its ongoing development has come into a new era.
To fulfill all the requirements of Smesco Indonesia Company, The State Ministry issued Decree Number 19.3/Per/M.KUKM/VII/2006. This decree is the foundation for the establishment and the management of the company as of August 19th, 2006. On March 20th, 2007, with Decree Number 159/KMK.05/2007 issued by The Minister of Finance, Smesco Indonesia Company was established as one of the government institutions that apply the Financial Management Model for Public services.

Its priority is to gain the kind of market share that would have a continued positive impact on Indonesia's economic growth. In addition to the establishment of the trading house activity, Smesco Indonesia Company also manages the SMESCO INDONESIA building which is located in Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto Kav.94, South Jakarta.
